PolyFinances is the first technical society of the Mathematics and Industrial Engineering Department at Polytechnique Montréal. Founded in 2011, this finance committee is dedicated to training engineers specialized in finance with advanced technical skills. With around twenty members, PolyFinances aims to understand and manage the financial aspects of technology projects. Members also study company valuation methods based on the principles of industrial economics, and manage a portfolio of stocks worth over $100,000. This work not only enables members to acquire practical finance skills, but also reinforces the school's reputation as a center of excellence in engineering and finance.
PolyFinances members, with backgrounds in industrial, mechanical, civil, computer, mining and biomedical engineering, all share an interest in finance. This diversity of engineering skills enables them to analyze financial challenges in depth and come up with innovative, effective solutions.

Every November, PolyFinances organizes a competition involving over 150 participants from various universities. Similar to traditional hackathons, participants are challenged to use their technical knowledge and creativity to solve a financial problem as a team.
